The primary objective of this study was to understand the economic and financial aspects of domestic violence from the perspective of women involved in such cases. To explore these economic and financial issues, information was gathered from domestic violence victims and staff of the Department of Social Welfare through a quantitative approach using questionnaires in the form of Google Forms, as well as a qualitative approach based on interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs).

Twelve hypotheses were developed as the foundation of this study, which utilised field surveys in the form of questionnaires to achieve its objective of identifying the current types of workplace discrimination faced by women and understanding its role and implications on their mental health. The study population comprised 5.1 million working women in Malaysia, with a sample size of 411 used for reporting the analysis. A simple random sampling technique was employed for data collection.

This research was conducted to assess the economic well-being of PWDs (recipients of Department of Social Welfare assistance) during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period. The issues raised lead to exploring alternative methods for the survivability of PWDs. Five hypotheses were developed as the foundation for this study, which took the form of field surveys and included several rounds of interviews. The population consisted of 134,807 PWDs in Klang Valley, with a sample size of 384. A simple random sampling technique was employed for data collection.

The findings of this study have implications not only for empowering and improving welfare assistance programmes implemented by the government for target groups in the future but also for providing valuable input to KPWKM in planning suitable long-term strategic assistance plans. The results also impact the evaluation of the effectiveness of government programmes in delivering assistance to target groups. The latest study inputs can serve as a reference for assessing current assistance programmes to ensure the provision of relevant data and information about the assistance needed.

The Pilot Diversion Programme is an initiative proposed by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) and approved by the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC). Efforts to establish this Pilot Programme began in 2013 through various meetings and workshops on Diversion, facilitated by international experts from countries such as England and Wales, Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

Malaysia is heading towards becoming an ageing nation, with an estimated 5.8 million elderly individuals, accounting for 15.3% of the population aged 60 years and above, by 2030. This diagnostic study aligns with the government’s aspiration to provide formal and informal services and facilities to achieve overall societal well-being.

This Outcome Evaluation Report aims to present an analysis of the effectiveness of the Social Worker Competency Development Programme conducted at the Malaysian Social Institute (ISM), Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, during the period of 2018-2019 under the operating expenditure allocation.

The main objective of the study was to design and develop a comprehensive support system action plan for registered caregivers of PWDs. This study involved a sample of 2,333 informal caregivers covering all seven categories of PWDs. The sample study for formal caregivers (PWD care centres) included 213 care centres, consisting of 162 Community-Based Rehabilitation centres, seven Taman Sinar Harapan centres, 27 care centres run by non-governmental organisations (NGOs), 13 private care centres, and four individual care centres.
