Introduction
Strategically located in the vicinity of the nations capital city Kuala Lumpur, Institut Sosial Malaysia (ISM), an agency of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, commenced operations in 2002 with the main objective of becoming one of the most renowned centre of excellence in the field of social policy and social development.

As a training hub for civil servants and other social practitioners, the institute is also a resource centre for new ideas and information in the field of social policy and social development and is navigating itself to be a centre of excellence for training and research. Hence, the institute conducts training courses, seminars, workshops and forums as well as organizing major conferences in social development.

The institute strives to achieve its objectives which includes producing skilled and professional social practitioners, enhancing knowledge and skills in social policy management, plan curriculum and training programs, develop networking and knowledge sharing, as well as promoting research and publication on social policy and social development.

In its efforts to enhance capacity building, the institute is navigating its course of action towards establishing networks with local and international universities in order to develop a more comprehensive curriculum and effective strategies to empower knowledge and promulgate latest ideas to those who attend courses at the institute. Hence, aspiring to be a centre of excellence in the field of social development, ISM has appointed local and international fellows to assist in its pursuit to greater heights. As it facilitates the Malaysian government in its implementation of its National Social Policy, ISM is gradually becoming a bridge between policy-makers and policy-movers.

Kami komited untuk mengendalikan program latihan yang berkualiti ke arah peningkatan pengetahuan, kemahiran dan pengalaman profesional modal insan Kementerian dan Jabatan, serta menjana sikap pengamal sosial yang betul dan tulen dalam bidang pembangunan sosial, kebajikan sosial dan kerja sosial.

Kami berjanji untuk :

• Memastikan program kursus adalah dikendalikan mengikut piawaian kurikulum yang ditetapkan dan selaras dengan objektif kursus dengan mencapai skor purata 5.0 bagi pencapaian objektif kursus,
• Memastikan peserta kursus adalah dilatih mengikut piawaian latihan yang ditetapkan dari segi keberkesanan isi kandungan, penyampaian penceramah dan teknik latihan dengan mencapai skor purata 5.0 bagi keseluruhan kursus,
• Memberi maklum balas terhadap setiap aduan dan pertanyaan dalam tempoh tidak lewat dari tiga (3) hari bekerja.

The new logo for Institut Sosial Malaysia embodies the essence of knowledge, firm and solid Foundation, and modernity as we strive to achieve a progressive and dynamic society.

The initials "ISM" placed at the core represent our commitment, determination and dedication as catalyst in initiating progress. Enveloping the core is a modern and stylish rendered globe denoting our global outlook and reach.

Together, these elements are strategically placed on a medieval map which symbolizes our heritage, wealth of knowledge and solid education derived from our past endeavors.

The use of the colours "Tangerine" for the map illustrates the rich and vibrant nature of the organization supported by dynamic individuals. The colour "Lilac" used for the corresponding bands signifies strength of character whilst maintaining the warmth and friendliness of ISM, as we embark on our journey to facilitate the development of a society rich in values.
